목적지는 어디인지 모르지만, 다들 어딘가로 향하는 정신없는 아침의 뉴욕. 그 흐름에 몸을 맡겼던 한 여자가 자신을 잡아먹을 듯 거대한 건물 앞에 도착합니다. 영화 '악마는 프라다를 입는다.' 의 첫 장면입니다. 이 정신없는 컷의 사이사이를 메꿔주며 들려오는 노래가 스코틀랜드 출신의 싱어송라이터 'KT Tunstall' 의 'Suddenly I See' 입니다.

영국의 TV 음악쇼인 'Later... with Jools Holland' 에서 힙합뮤지션 'Nas' 가 펑크낸 자리를 그녀는 통기타와 탬버린, 그리고 루프박스로 무대를 채워 넣었고 높은 호응을 이끌어 냅니다. 이후, 4백만 장 이상의 음반 판매와 그래미 후보에 오르는 등 대중에서 많은 사랑을 받는 뮤지션으로 성장합니다.

'Suddenly I See' 는 경쾌한 그루감을 시종일관 들려주는 드럼과 기타가 특히 매력적인 곡입니다. 그 위 색을 입히는 그녀의 허스키한 목소리도 이 곡의 개성에 한몫하고 있죠. 저는 개인적으로 이 곡에서 중반부, 랩에 가까운 그녀의 보이스를 참 좋아합니다. 아주 살짝 말려들어가는 목소리 톤이 일품이랄까요. ㅎㅎㅎ 아참! 후렴부의 중독성도 빼놓으면 안되겠죠? ㅎ 듣다보면 하루종일 '서든리아씨~' 를 반복하는 저를 보게 됩니다;;;
