조금은 당황스러운 시도...

 

처음 이 곡을 들었을 때, '오! 뭔가 멜로디도 좋고 괜찮은데!' 가 제 반응이었다면 1분 뒤 제 반응은 '뭐라고? 린킨파크라고?' 였습니다. 개인적으로는 좀 듣고 놀랬던 곡이었네요. 그들이 아무리 새로운 영역으로 도전했고 실험했지만, 나름대로 허용범위 안이라는 생각과 그들의 스타일은 항상 녹아 있었다는 생각이었기에, 이번 곡은 개인적으론 조금 당황스러웠습니다. 살짝 놀란 마음이었달까요? 애초에 곡 들어보고 린킨파크 곡인 걸 몰랐으니까요. 그냥 보컬이 좀 익숙한데? 정도의 느낌이었지요.

 

 

 

 

'Heavy' 는 사실 그들의 곡이라는 게 좀 놀라울 뿐, 곡만 놓고보면 저는 개인적으로 좋다고 생각합니다. Kiiara 라는 여보컬의 피쳐링도 잘 어울리는 듯 하고요. 어차피 새로운 시도야 그들에게 또 다른 활력을 불어 넣어줄 테니, 이런 시도는 계속 있어야 한다는 개인적인 생각이기도 합니다. 뭐... 해외나 국내의 반응은 호불호가 좀 갈리긴 하네요.

- 거의 대부분 곡의 문제라기보다 이곡이 린킨파크의 곡이라는 부분의 호불호더군요. ㅎㅎㅎ

- 앞으로도 이런 곡들이 많아질지 이벤트성인지는 지켜봐야겠지요?

 

곡은 좀 짧긴 한데, 멜로디 라인이 굉장히 훅이 강하네요. 바로 중독입니다.

 

5월에 발매하는 앨범 'One More Light' 에는 어떤 곡들이 들어갈지 벌써 기대됩니다. 분명 'Heavy' 와 같은 신선한 곡들도 대거 리스트에 올라가지 않을까 조심스럽게 예상해 봅니다.
